Therapy should be helpful. I try to make it as practical and down to earth as possible.

I have worked in San Diego since 1995 providing therapy for adults. My specialty is individual and couples therapy, and my greatest commitment is to your well-being. About two thirds of my practice is with the GLBTQ community. I am currently training with the Gottman Institute to provide Couples therapy using the Gottman Method. I think you will find this method to be extremely effective and practical whether you are in a same sex or opposite sex relationship.

I also have a deep love for animals and have done research in using dogs as helpers in the therapeutic process. I have therapy dogs available in sessions. Dogs have been shown to help lower blood pressure and reduce physiological effects such as fear and panic. Therapy can be stressful and reducing your anxiety during sessions can make you more able to learn and grow. I also teach self-hypnosis and mindfulness techniques to help you reduce stress at home. In addition, simple biofeedback devices are available to help you learn to stay calm and think clearly even when you are emotional.
